Lesson Plan - What's this?


Name: James   Date: 1/12/09   Level and number of students: Low 7~10 Ss

Length of lesson: 40 min

Action Points:

1. Speak new words clearly and slowly

2. Speak English as less as I can (use more simple words)

Lesson type (skills, language, intergrated) and topic/context: Talking about school supplies

Fit with other lessons: Review of basic sentence structure with verb BE and pronouns

Materials:(include book and page numbers) p.4,6, big and small flash cards, question box,

Aids: makers, blue tack

Learning Objective(s): By the end of the lesson students will be able to ask and answer "What is this?", "It's a _____."using school supplies vocabulary at a hunting cards game.


I assume the students can already do or are already familiar with:

The present verb BE and demonstrative pronouns-this, it-. Basic sentence structure in simple present, the verb BE and some school supplies vocabulary words This/It. How to play flower cards game.


I anticipate students will have problems with:

1. Using complete sentences correctly

2. Remembering new vocabulary

3. Saying materials for school supplies in English

4. Directions for the different activities


To solve or avoid these problems I plan to:

1. Show the new language on the board clearly.

2. Plenty of reinforcement activities. Play a hunting cards game.

3. Model the activities twice: with teacher-student and then student-student.


I will activate student's knowledge of lesson content, topic and/or context by:

1. Point and ask what they use it.

2. Ask if they would like to win at a hunting cards game.


I will find out what my students have learned during the lesson and whether they have reached the objective by:

Being able to identify school supplies and finally play a hunting cards game with pair using "What's this?","It's a ___.".
